Our low-cost ECU INSPECTION service offers the opportunity to have suspect ECUs inspected by experienced ECU repair technicians for minimal cost. PLEASE NOTE that this is an INSPECTION SERVICE ONLY YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR A REPAIR. IF THE CONTROL UNIT IS UNREPAIRABLE THE CHARGE STILL APPLIES IT IS SIMPLY WHAT WE HAVE TO CHARGE TO COVER THE COSTS OF OPERATING THE WORKSHOP TESTING FACILITY – YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A REPORT BY PHONE/EMAIL/WITH ECU SAYING WHAT WE THINK IS WRONG WITH THE UNIT AND ADVICE AS TO THE CAUSES OF THE FAULTS. We cannot guarantee to find faults in an ECU and you are not paying for a guarantee that all or any faults will be found – some faults are intermittent or may not show up in testing – we will do our best with the use of computerised equipment. If you are trying to fix the vehicle by sending a control unit to us in the hope that a fault will show up and you will not have to pay someone to diagnose the car correctly then you are wasting your time and creating problems for yourself, you will likely lose valuable fault codes by removing the ECU from car. Faultfinding should be carried out on the vehicle by someone with the required knowledge and equipment.
Typical ECU REBUILD charges are in the range £205.00 to £333.00. (Rebuild means repairing the ECU by replacing all parts that are known to cause problems plus re-engineering with uprated components where possible)
For this low-cost approach to work, it must be kept simple and not have any unnecessary overhead costs or communications. However, if we find ECU damage caused by vehicle problems, we tie a red label to ECU with details of affected pin numbers and likely cause. Where we cannot find any problems, a white label, with a list of likely causes, is attached. (this only works if you send details of vehicle fault symptoms with ECU)
ECU turn-round here is normally 2-7 working days. Please allow for mail delivery as follows;
Within UK 1 working day (each way)
Within EU 2 – 3 working days (each way)
Rest of world 4 – 7 working days (each way)
